Hurricane Gustav that hit the Gulf Coast over the albor day weekend did not cause too much damage but has resulted in casino renenue for the month of Septemeber beding down 26%.
The Biloxi SunHearald is quoted as saying that the totals were down almost half of August’s totals.
Mayor A.J. Holloway is “Obviously, the storm hitting on Sept. 1 had an impact, but I think the real story here is the economy. It’s catching up on us. This is something I kind of anticipated. Las Vegas and Atlantic City have been seeing this for months, so it was just a matter of time before it reached us.”
Now that the Hurricane Season is drawing to a close it looks like the Biloxi-Gulfport area will rebound nicely in the coming holiday season. Here is a list of Halloween events in the Biloxi area.
